Search engine optimization attempts to take a great deal of the guesswork out of this problems through having your websites found remarkably in search engine results web pages. Below are some ways to do just that.

Create original as well as quality content for the website. Some people state that duplicate written content can really hurt your rankings. While this discussion keeps on, the sole thing with regards to content is that you must create your very own, original and excellent quality content. It ought to be something that individuals would love to read through and then give their friends no matter if it is about a locum doctor job or candles.

Stay with white hat search engine marketing techniques. These are known as white hat since these are what the major search engines would consider great practices. Learn the truth about dark hat techniques and stay far away from these kinds of practices. As they usually say, it is better being on the safe side.

Analyze your competition -- this involves identifying who your competition can be. Keep in mind that if you are optimizing your website, include enough relevant keywords to grab search engines attention but do not over do it.

Make use of long tailed key phrases. In order to bring in traffic to your website or perhaps articles you really need to get the content to be before competition on the major search engines. One way to make this happen is to find appropriate long tail search phrases that will bring in your buyers. Extended tail keywords are usually basically used in replace of specific and simple keywords. It normally includes a combination of distinct keywords or keywords and key phrases.

Proper, intelligent market and keyword research is the center of your site if you depend upon search engine site visitors for your sales. Skip this step or perhaps target the wrong keywords and phrases and you not merely waste a lot of time and cash, but you may end up with minimum targeted traffic aimed at your web pages.

SEO Tips - The Two Forms of Search Engine Optimization

SEO stands for search engine optimization and is the process getting a website noticed and its rankings increased in search engines. There are two types of SEO which include White Hat SEO and Black Hat SEO. Black Hat SEO does not follow search engine guidelines and is a way to "trick"search engines using methods to rank your pages quickly. This type of SEO should be avoided and will only result in your website being banned permanently from search engines. Below will be discussing White Hat SEO strategies only.

The first thing a webmaster has to do when optimizing their website is to optimize their pages first. This is considered onpage optimization and is basically optimizing your pages with title and meta tags, meta descriptions and keywords. This will ensure that searches find and index your pages. So, if your website is about leather sofas for sale, you will want your website’s keywords to be optimized for leather sofas. A decent optimized website will get boosted up the search engines.

The next form of SEO is called off page optimization and this is the process of getting quality back links for your webpage. There are many ways to do this but some are included below.

1. Forum Posting: This is one of the oldest but still very effective methods of gaining back links. You simply add a link to your website in the signatures of each forum you are registered to and participate in the forum.

2. Blogging: Creating your own blog and linking it back to your website can be beneficial and considered a back link. The more you post to your blog and the more popular it gets, will increase its page rank and therefore will become a better back link for your website.

3. Article Submission: Write 250 to 500 word articles and include a link back to your website in the resource box. Submit your articles to high rank directories.

Other forms of back links can be from social media sites, social network sites and blog commenting. The key to gaining enough back links to help with your website rankings is to stay consistent with it. The more quality back links you have and the better optimized your website pages are the easier it will be to get and maintain a first page ranking on search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Telecommunications marketing3

office stationers

Neglected until recently, wholesale - Attracting new users who are not currently using mobile services or who have specific user needs, is usually extremely difficult for the mobile market with high saturation. Due to the rapid development of mobile operators have become one of the most powerful telecommunications companies in the world.
In recent years, however, there is a clear trend of saturation of national markets for mobile services. In many developed countries around the world the number of users of mobile services already exceeds the population (of mobile penetration over 100%), with the result that operators are increasingly competing not in attracting new users, and in the redistribution of subscribers already use mobile services. This inevitably leads to a decrease in average prices of monthly subscriptions and traffic services, and hence reduce the average revenue from the subscriber. Deteriorating economic situation and the related decline in consumption of telecommunications services and lack of available investment capital have further negative impact on revenues from mobile operators worldwide.
In an effort to maintain high growth rate, many mobile operators review their business models, reducing the costs that are targeted to previously overlooked sources of revenue, or altering the overall profile of activity.

Chapter I. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is widely use to effective get your website or webpage atop of the many different search engines. Yet just getting to the top of search engines is not enough and means very little if there are not enough views or conversions. This is the problem many business owners have when they try or employ SEO strategies. They are looking to get atop of the search listings.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"/>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"Arial’,’sans-serif’; COLOR: black"lang=EN-GB">When a website or webpage ranks high for a particular keyword this is only as good for the business as its performance while it’s there. Your businesses SEO effort should translate into more visits to your webpage and also more conversions.
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"Arial’,’sans-serif’; COLOR: black"lang=EN-GB">Many business owners will tend to have certain keywords that they think they should use in getting ranked. Oftentimes these keywords are useless in getting website visits and conversions. If necessary employ a reputable SEO company to handle your businesses SEO strategy.
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"Arial’,’sans-serif’; COLOR: black"lang=EN-GB">Keep in mind that higher search engine ranking tend to mean increased traffic. Yet increased traffic does not always mean greater conversion rates. The key to your businesses overall success will lie in choosing the right keyword for your business and doing what is necessary both on-page and off-page to get your site ranked high and also get adequate number of conversions.
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"Arial’,’sans-serif’; COLOR: black"lang=EN-GB">Another thing business owners should realise is that SEO will take some time before any form of results is seen in a substantive way. Owners are often impatient with their SEO efforts and seek immediate results. In many cases the SEO effort has to be maintain for up to a years to be effective.

Article Marketing and SEO

Many marketers use organic traffic as a way to bring in new business and customers. This is because it is effective and free. It only takes the investment of your time and there are many different ways to use SEO (search engine optimization) to increase your organic traffic. Plus, there is no need to consult with any type of independent financial advisors because it is so simple to do and does not require any money investment.

Aside from optimizing your website with meta tags, titles, descriptions and keywords, building back links through article marketing is a highly effective SEO method.

Article marketing is actually pretty simple but a bit time consuming. It is not for the marketers who are looking to make a quick sale. It is for the marketers who understand the importance of building a long term stream of traffic and income.

You simply write 250 to 500 word articles that are relevant to the products and services you are promoting. You want to optimize your articles with long tailed keywords that have at least 1000 monthly searches and no more than 50,000 other competitors. The Google Keyword Tool is great for finding out this information.

Once you have your long tailed keywords, you want to include it in the title of your article, the first paragraph and sprinkle within the body. Place a link back to your website in the resource box and submit your articles to high ranking article directories. This is all there is to it. The more articles you write and submit, the more quality back links you will get pointing back to your website. You cannot write just a couple articles and expect success with this method. You have to write hundreds of articles to find success with this method, but once the work is done you will be reaping in the rewards for years.

A Good Marketing Strategy

What is a good marketing strategy? What kind of Marketing approach would earn more money for your company and how do you achieve that? Well, marketing seems to be becoming more and more focused on these questions and people are surprisingly innovative in the area.

A good marketing strategy is the method of ostponing an anticipated product. Keeping people waiting for your product actually makes it more and more wanted, attracts more attention and more times it is being mentioned as a product of high expectations. This earns a lot of money for your business since you are expected to release a product that would crush the competition because of its qualities and the name of that particular good is becoming more and more popular among people. Postponing the release date of your product is what can gain you a lot of benefits and since marketing is found almost everywhere (from those amazing video games on the sale to the small and nice argos discount vouchers ), why do not you consider a more innovative approach in distributing your products.

A particular example that reveals this new marketing approach is from the producers of the newest Gran Turrismo 5 video game. At first, Polyphony Digital (the producers) announced the game would be on the market in October. This caused thousands of fans to preorder the game and spend quite a lot of money on just paying for a product that has not come out yet. Later, from the company posponed the release date for november and people started talking even more - what is so special about the game?, why is it being posponed? and so on. New trailers cam out and the game itself became a blockbuster before being even released. Just two days back the release date was postponed again for the 31st December - another tremendous rise in the preorders was recorder. So it is a good approach as it seems - PP Digital scored millions of dollars of sales without their product even being released.

Anchor Text For SEO

In order to get good rankings from the search engines it is important to understand several different factors, one of which is anchor text. As you will see merely getting links from other websites does not ensure good rankings in the search engines. The quality of the anchor text plays a significant role in ranking your pages for specific keywords. So what is anchor text? It is simply the visible text of a hyperlink that is, the words making up a link clicking on which takes you to a new web page.

Anchor texts are used in both internal and external links. Internal links are those that connect the different pages of your website while external links are those that come from sites outside your own website. You might be wondering why you can’t simply include the link to your website or so. This is because anchor texts indicate to the reader as well as to the search engines what kind of information is contained in the link. Thus your anchor text must be meaningful. Stuffing the anchor text with keywords might put off the visitors even though it may boost your rankings. Quality anchor texts which include the target keywords improves your rankings in major search engines as they help the search engines to know what your site is about. For example if you have a cosmetic surgery page, you will want a varity of terms like leg vein and various treatments going to all your internal pages, instead of all your links going to the homepage on one broad term. Anchor texts that link back to your site from other sites are also regarded highly by the search engines.

If you want a page rank for a keyword then it must be included in the anchor text. If not the complete keyword a part of it should certainly be included. However it must be noted that having all your anchor text exactly the same as the links is not a good idea. You could try mixing words or changing them from singular to plural, etc. Also while obtaining links with the desired anchor texts you must make sure that you are linking to the correct page and not just to the homepage.

It’s The Quality of Your Reciprocal Links Not the Quantity!

For any effective SEO campaign specially to get page rank in search engines like Google and listed among top searches in other search engines like Yahoo, MSN and similar search engines, backlinks, popularly called reciprocal links are quite important. They help a website get high ranking in the search engines and get listed in the algorithmic search through popularity and linking with sites that receive a lot of visitors.

Reciprocal links however has to be used appropriately or else their effectiveness will not be what is desired. There are different schools of thought as to how these links are to be used. There are many webmasters who tend to emphasize the quantity of reciprocal links rather than quality links to their website in the quest of getting the ranking a lot faster.

The irony of reciprocal link SEO promotion is that the quantity of links doesn’t matter much, quality is what matters a lot. It is the quality backlinks that you should target rather than getting links from any and all websites. Getting tremendous amount of reciprocal links to your website can have negative impact on your website. It can hurt the SEO ranking as the search engines may consider your website as doing some sort of illegal activity or spam activities and therefore demote the rank or out listing from a search. Simply put, search engines do not like any site that has too many links.

Sometimes we feel that link from a good ranked webpage is something that would be beneficial to the website. Even reciprocal link from a zero ranked page too can be beneficial to your website, provided that the webpage contains relevant data and useful information.

When you get reciprocal links from websites that are relevant to the product or service you are offering, you will likely also get qualified visitors to your site. Quality visitors will also mean more sales. For example, if you get a link for laser hair removal birmingham on a beauty site. That will drive both traffic and trust to your site. However, as useful as the trust filltering is, you may find that one the right site, the traffic may be valuble to you because of the relevance and the high conversion rates of the users you receive.

So, next time when you say that you need bunch of backlinks, you should keep in mind that you need quality backlinks only. It’s quality of your reciprocal links not the quantity that matters! All the best!

Internet Marketing: Why An Autoresponder Is Necessary

There are many different tools used in Internet marketing and one of the most necessary and widely use element is an Autoresponder. By using RSS feeds, your website can gain the necessary visitor rate which will help with search engine optimisation (SEO).

One important characteristic to keep in mind is the number of keywords used in your feeds’ titles. Here, the more search keywords you use the more hits your website will receive. It is a good idea to use up to 15 search keywords for each of your titles. This will enable traffic to your website through many different topics.

Your descriptors should also be unique and interesting to potential visitors. Remember that potential visitors click on RSS feed titles that are relevant to their needs, so when choosing your descriptors try to be as concise as possible. It is also a good idea to group your titles under one theme, that way users can easily see all that your website has to offer in one field.

When you create your RSS feeds, in is imperative that you include your website’s contact information, specifically an email contact address. Include your company logo as well; this will help your potential customers remember you. But remember that negative attention is as powerful as positive attention, so make sure that their experiences are not a negative one.

It is also a good idea to subscribe to your own RSS feeds. This will give faith and trust in your SEO writing. Make sure that your customers can contact you easily, and that they have a positive experience with your RSS feeds (for example, do not use titles that are misleading, for this will only serve to upset your potential customers). RSS feeds with SEO can make a rather large impact on the amount of traffic seen on your website, but only if you use the proper tactics.
Got paid for that last freelance job that I did, you all know what that means, it’s about time to hit the shops and pick up that new set of running clothing that I have been waiting to get. Pay Per Click marketing is a risk as is, so conducting your strategy effectively could mean the difference between success and ultimate failure. Many websites have failed because of their techniques. Here are the four major PPC marketing mistakes to avoid.

1. Boring Ad Copies. Having a good understanding of Ad Copy will allow you to avoid a boring and uninteresting Ad Copy. If your ad is not interesting or eye catching, it will quickly be overlooked by potential customers. Make your ad copy interesting and exciting.

2. Bidding on the Wrong Keywords. Many marketers use generic keywords that have been proven to be ineffective. Narrow your keywords to specific themes and topics to highlight your website as a unique spot. (For example, instead of ’vet jobs' go for something like ’permanent vet jobs’, or place specific). Bidding on keywords is a very expensive process, so make sure that you are not wasting time bidding on keywords that are broad and generic.

3. Poor Testing and Tracking. Testing and tracking will allow you to control your activities and determine what works and what doesn’t. If one technique does not work, you will be able to fix the problem or move on to another idea. Do not underestimate the power of effective testing and tracking.

4. Directing Visitors to your Homepage. It may seem like a good idea, but you should direct your visitors to the page that is directly related to the ad copy and keywords. If you send your visitors to your homepage, they are unlikely to take further action and search through in order to find what they were looking for. Keep your link exact and specific to each keyword and ad copy.

5 Reasons you should blog for SEO

Many Blog sites struggle not simply because their articles are sub-par (although some of them logically are!), but because they struggle to bring in a sufficient amount of traffic. Competition in the online markets is intense and strategies are different from conventional marketing. Internet marketing requires marketers to generate website traffic in order to capture potential customers.

For marketers to be successful they need to go right down to the root of a customer’s interest. They need to find out what exactly the customer is looking for, and what was the exact term that they enter into search engines. This is called laser targeted keywords and it helps marketers read the consumers mind.

The key to success is simply to use highly targeted keywords that will generate a lot of website traffic.

In addition, Internet marketers must also find the long tail keywords or phrases that customer’s use. This will help reduce competition and maximize website traffic generation. In the Internet marketing sphere, search results are considered to be key. Smaller keywords have large search results, while longer keywords have fewer results. Hence you can stand out if you find a long tail keyword.

An example of this is the term ‘weight’ which produces around 400 million results when typed into Google. When changed to the term ‘how to gain weight’ there are only 27 million results, which is far less competition. This is a simple way of showing that targeting longer keywords will increase traffic.

Many Internet marketers do not understanding the importance of keyword research. They spend a great deal of time adding new content, setting up blogs and developing their websites only to find that they are not getting the right visitors.

Keyword research is an art that takes a long time to master, it’s easy to get frustrated in the beginning but the end result is sweet.
I have exciting news before I go, I was talking to my cousin last night and he has just got a great new role at an hr software company. Search engines are generally the first place people go to find information. They simply type in what they are looking for in the search engine and are then displayed the results. If you can get your Web sites on the first couple pages of these search engines, it could be like striking a gold mine.

SEO marketing (search engine optimization marketing) is a great way to get ranked high in these search engines for free. You can get on the first couple of pages with PPC (pay per click) advertising, but this can become quite costly. There are free ways to do it that require no investment but your time.

The first way to incorporate SEO marketing into your business building efforts is by setting up a Web site and optimizing it with keyword phrases that you think your target market will be searching for.

The next step is to write content and optimize that with targeted keywords. When writing content, however, it is important to focus more on the quality of your content rather than stuffing it with keywords. Quality content looks better and builds credibility. Keyword stuffing looks amateur and can even get you banned from the search engines. Content can be in the form of articles, blog posts or classified ads.

Submit your sites to places such as Technorati, MyBlogLog, Twitter, Blog Catalog and others to gain backlinks. Ezine Articles is also a great place to gain quality backlinks. Write your SEO optimized articles, link to your Web site and submit. Search Engines love Ezine Articles and usually rank these articles very high in their index.

The last important step in SEO marketing is to not expect overnight results. There are no short cuts when it comes to building organic traffic through SEO. Be consistent with your efforts and over time your business building will begin to come automatically.

Some exhilarating personal news before I run, I was speaking to my brother last night and he has just got a great new role at an hr software company. Since search engine optimisation will always be at the forefront of your thoughts, you need to learn how to optimise keywords so that you get the results you desire. Here are some strategies you can use.

Where to Put Keywords

Once you have picked the keywords you want to optimize your site for, where to put them is the issue. The three main places to put them are:

· Website URL

· The Title

· In the content

Search engine normally look in these areas to find your keywords.

Keyword Frequency

In the past the frequency of your keywords was about four percent. These days you will do better using the keywords less frequently. Here are some tips you can use when placing keywords in the content.

· Primary keywords. Use these a lot more frequently and if there are more than one of them us the one that people will likely search for. Spread the other keywords all over the content as this will help your site to rank better.

· Density. Make sure the keyword density is the same at the beginning and towards the end of your content. This is necessary because search engines do not search the whole content generally but they do pay attention to the beginning and end of the content.

· Natural usage. Try to use your keywords naturally within the content. Do not place the keywords places where they do not belong. When this is done the visitors to your site will not be able to read it.

You should try the strategies above and see how it works out for you. Placing keywords in the correct location on your site can bring you great search result placing.
You all know, I on occasion look into online programs as a matter of interest and I have lately found a business that does online human resource software. To have everyone logged into the central system seems like a really obvious idea to me, also a massive time saver, I have no idea why this is the first time it is getting off the ground.

4 Link Building Tips to Boost Your Online Presence

There are many ways for you to improve your websites online presence but one of the most widely use and very effective ways of doing this is through link building. Link building helps to determine your websites page rank and its popularity when searches are done using search engines. Here are 5 link building tips to help boost your online presence.

Go for relevancy

Search engines are getting more and more sophisticated and for websites to get recognised links to it must be relevant. Thus you must go for links for other sites that are relevant and have some similarity to your own. Having backlinks from sites that have relevancy will help bring more visibility to your site than those from sites with little or no relevancy.

Link with sites of high page ranking

Links from sites that rank high on search engines carry a greater value to your site than those that are ranked lower. A higher page rank site will pass its value on to your site. Try to get quality links from those sites that have high page rank if you truly want to improve your online presence. The more of these you have that are relevant to your site the more visibility you will get.

Anchor texts are important

To build quality links it is necessary that you use anchor texts. Some search engines view anchor links as having a high value. One way to get good link building results is to make your keywords the anchored text.

Stay away from “nofollow” links

Introduced initially to discourage spamming via randomly posted links all over the Internet, most sites are now using the “nofollow” tag. This tag basically signifies that a link will not be seen as a backlink. Thus any link you get from a “nofollow” site will not help in your SEO efforts as they are useless.
One last thing, I have just looked at the site design for this human resource software website and I have to say in my web trained opinion it is really good-looking. I was having a rather grueling time actually finding any information however, which made me think about what is more crucial, attraction or functionability? The SEO on it has improved however...

Top 10 Tips To Promote Your Business Through Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites can be a very powerful way to build your business. You have to understand, however, that social networking is about connecting with others and building relationships. It is not about promoting your business. Yes, your business information will be out there for others to see, but you will not be pitching it directly to others UNLESS they ask you to. So, how do you get others to ask you about your business on social network sites?

1. First you will want to set up a profile that gives detailed information about you, your business and your success in your business.

2. Make sure that you post regularly in the online journal and blog that is built right into the social network sites.

3. Add plenty of images and personal photos of yourself on your profile. People tend to do business with people they can put a face to.

4. Go around and join several groups that are related to your business or your targeted audience. These groups are also built right into the social network sites.

5. Create your signature line which will include some text that sparks curiosity or interest and a link to your business website.

6. Go ahead and participate in these groups including your signature line in all your posts. If the group allows you to do so, you can ad an ad to the appropriate place on their group (usually in the advertising section). Follow their guidelines as to how often you can place an ad.

7. Go around these groups and invite others to be your friend. When they accept your invitation, comment a "thank you" on their profiles. If they message you, be sure to message back (this is where the relationships happen).

8. Link your social network profile to other places such as your own personal blog, articles, forum signatures, etc. to gain exposure.

9. Create your own group on the social network sites, add interesting and helpful information to it on a daily basis and invite others to join and contribute.

10. Make it a plan to invite new friends, post to your journal and blog and add information to your group on a regular basis.

Before I go, I want to update you all in the world of world. I have just finished doing some adjustments on this London PR webpage. Let's see, you have forums, classified ads, blog commenting, PPC, Brochures, business cards and email marketing. These are highly effective ways to get the word out on your business. Although, the best way to grow your business is through relationship marketing. What is this exactly? Simple. Market your business through Social Networks.

Social marketing is the hottest thing out there today to market your business. You simply create a profile based around your business on any of the free social networks and invite friends. The type of friends you want to invite are people who have a business or are looking for a business.

Now, when you invite friends, you are simply asking to connect with them and be their friend. You DO NOT pitch them your business as this is considered spam. But don't worry, that is what your profile is there for. It does all the work for you. People will accept your friendship and browse around your profile to see what you are all about. Then, they will read all about your business and will begin to ask questions. This is where you hook, line and sinker.

Well me and Lyn are all set for the conference in Barcelona at present it just the two of us. If you would like to tag along we would be over the moon. I really enjoy group holidays more than anything else. So we are going to be their from the 4th to the 24th loads of time, just pick any hostel. Hostal Portugal is where we are staying.

Changing your domain name for seo (search engine optimisation) reasons

I receieved this email question today from the owner of a website called SIAuk:

We have also had a discussion about a re-brand of SIAuk, just wondered what you thought if we were to change the title to perhaps more keyword orientated? Something along the lines of SIAuk Security Vacancies or something? If this would improve our ranking in any way? If you have any thoughts on the above that would be welcome! Thanks,

I thought that this was a question that you might find interesting, so here is the answer:

If you are going to do it, do it now. Once a website goes live, the web address that it is attached to starts to build up history. The longer a web address has been live, the better that the web site attached to that web address ranks in the engine. Think of it like building up a reputation. It takes time to build up rep, and if you change your name, you loose the associated reputation. Currently your site if fairly new anyway, so you wouldn't loose a large ammount if you re branded, especially if you correctly 301 forward to old domain and internal pages across.

You do actually have one major thing to gain by rebranding. You can buy a domain that relects your main search term and thus more easily rank for it. For example, if you do a search for security vaccancies.
As you can see, the site in first place is called www.securityvacancies.com/ They rank more easily for this because it is their name.

This change could give you a big boost - if you pick the correct domain. If you wanted an SEO eye when choosing your domain, I would be happy to include this extra research and work into the £600 onsite optimisation SEO Audit should you go ahead with it. I hope that helps - call / email me if it doesn't.

Big mouth media penalised by google!

I don't know why yet, but it really does seem like google has de indexed big mouth media homepage. It looks like this:

"Wait a minute!" I hear you say, thats a different title tag! How are they doing that? Well, I can tell you now that it is really simple, it is the dmoz entry. The title "personal guitar school" has been dynamically pulled from their DMOZ entry which had that as the anchor text.

So how is this useful? Well is shows us how great it would be to have a DMOZ entry - however that remains someone redundant information as it is still near impossible to get one these days. So dispite the cleverness of this - it is completely useless!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seoinsight.blogspot.com/2009/03/different-titletags-balck-hat-seo-no-it.html' title='Different Titletags? When I stumbled on the web application’s home page, with a text field agape, inviting me to type something in, I couldn’t resist succumbing. ‘Make a simple search now’, the web application said, enticingly. I tried jazz fusion, and it immediately returned a list of directories which did, indeed, specialise in the said version of jazz. I was soon reassured that the tool wasn’t going to be limited to finding directories. I was also reassured that it wouldn’t be limited to just finding!

Because LinkEyes runs from my browser, there was nothing to install and I was off the ground with my link development in minutes.

I discovered that I was able to upgrade from the free ‘Lite’ version to a ‘professional version’ (still free for a limited period) which gave me access to more search phases (such as Article Banks, Resources and Local Directories) and, most importantly, a plethora of features for all my link development tasks. Before long, I was saving my link prospects into projects, composing link requests and sending them off, filling out forms, exporting projects and checking link statuses. When requesting links, it was easy to include data which I had saved earlier and pick from a set of personalised templates, so I didn’t have to write each request from scratch. At the same time, I wasn’t spamming my link prospects, because I had the opportunity to edit each request to suit. I also liked the advanced search which enabled me to focus on just UK sites and add more precision to my searches. I didn't go out there to try and find a new link building research manager, but it seems that is what I've found!

The whole experience was very ethical because, unlike some tools, I felt I was in the driving seat. I was controlling my search, scrutinising my link prospects’ sites and taking care over the link requests. On occasion, I had to consult the on-line help to guide me along, but mostly the tool was intuitive to use.

I am confident that the links I am establishing will push my site up the rankings because the links I used to find were effective in this respect, and LinkEyes finds links which are at least as good, and it makes it easier and quicker at the same time.

PVC Banner Stands - a seasonal change in traffic

Using analytics well and tracking traffic is a key part of any good optimisation campain. It is all very well covering all your bases - making sure that the onsite optimisation is good, that all the keywords are in the correct places, that the site is fully readable and relevent for the correct terms. Making sure that the page is clear about its content is so impartant. If you have a page about pvc banners, make sure that it appears to both the human eye and the search engines robots as being about pvc banners. This does two things. It will help the search engines rank it for the correct term so that people can find it. When people do find it, it will help them to become customers buy increasing the conversion rate through clarity.

So you rank well now no your chosen search term. Are you keeping an eye on the tracking however? You are working towards position within the search engines, that is your job. Never forget though that ultimately what will make the client happy is traffic. That is really what they are after - they want customers. Ranking is a means to an end. So keeping an eye on your tracking to see what is and what isn't working is very important in the long term to ensure that you are doing a good job in the bigger picture.

So when there is a drop in traffic should you be concerned? Of course you should be! It the customers stop coming, the business that is paying you will fail. However, sometimes a drop in traffic is normal. Most things have some level of seasonal variation. No matter what type of banner stands you are selling, you are always going to be busier in the run up to exhibition season, and less busy following this. There will always be a slump. This is not something to panic about, but simply something to be aware of.

Google as part of their free traffic estimator now offer a seasonal tracking estimator. It will allow you to see the general trend in traffic and searches per the search term over the previous year. If you are at all worried or unsure it is worth having a look at this. Just remember, watch your traffic. If it drops off and it is not to do with seasonal change, then you may want to find out the cause as soon as possible - before your business goes under.

In other news, I've just finished work on the Gastric balloon page. Glad that's over!

Link Building - the difficulty of building links in the modern world

A core part of any search engine optimisation campaign is link building. Every website will need links in order to rank well, and they will need them at both a certain quality level and also a certain quantity. For example, if you are running a cosmetic clinic, you may well be needing lots of links with the words hair loss in order to help you bring customers into your clinic. So how do you find decent links through the internet?
Well this is the real question. If you have time to find legitimate websites, contact each of them individually, respond to those that do respond, then cut a deal that they are happy with (either an advert, or a trade or just pay them for the link), then brilliant. This is a long drawn out process however, and the time it takes to do this means that actually by the point that you have your link, it has "cost" you a massive amount in time to get that link - far more than just buying a directory entry from BOTW or joeant.

So then we move logically away from link finding to buying directory links. So which directorys links is it worth buying? So you purchase the first really legitimate 10 links on the list, and then you find that you are fast running out of directory entrys that you can buy that are actually trusted. It's all very well having money to spend, but how do you spend it well? Which directories out of the hundreds out there are actually worth getting. You quickly find that many of them have been devalued. So instead you decide to swap links.

You start trading links. Thats when you realise that reciprocal linking is not only really easy to trace, but is now ignored by google. So doing a direct link swap does nothing at all. So you go to blog posts.

That's when you stumble accross an article about pay per post, the blog post company that went from having an empire to having nothing when google descovered their blog network, and reduced to page rank of every single blog in their entire network to nothing, destroying their business.

So what do you do? If you can find a trustworthy company offering link building services then all well and good, your problems are solved; but trying to navigate the minefield that is link building in the modern world is tough. More than that, it is just so difficult to know what will work and what won't.

Is a sub domains better than a new domain?

I was asked this question at work today by a company called brammer, I thought it was a interesting question. I spoke to an seo company who were very helpful, but they made me promise to put a link out to them with the anchor text seo company london. They are legitimate, they are based in London and they are an SEO company! Besides, they gave me good advice.

Here is my opinion following research and their help!

The question of subdomains:

The search engines say that they treat any subdomain of a website as a domain in its own right. They say that they give no extra credence or value to that domain, and it functions exactly the same as if you bought a new domain and started with that.

In our experience we have found this to be fairly accurate - in some situations we have found that the engines index new domains faster than subdomains, though we haven't experimented with this under test conditions yet so this is instinct not fact.

What you would be loosing
Should you decide to amalgamate all of your country based websites into the brammer.biz website within subdomains, what you would be loosing is the history and the trust that the local websites have already built up. For example, the brammer.co.uk site was first indexed on the 28th November 1999, it has close to ten years of history behind it which helps its rankings within the engines. Some of the qudos would be transferred if you forward correctly, however, in our experience you always loose out in the transfer.

What you might gain

Your reasons for amalgamating may have fair reaching business effects that have nothing to do with the search engines that I can't see because I'm not running your business. Perhaps you will save money on hosting and maintenance, and nothing is unfixable, you can always rebuild trust, build links back up again and re rank your pages for the terms that you are trying to appear for. You will loose time on it though.

A note on local relevance

There is an additional note I must mention, which is that a www.somthing.de site will be seen as having more relevance when searched for within a German search engine such as www.google.de , so on and so forth.

Web Design Falkirk

In an effort to learn a little bit more about effective web design and SEO, I chanced upon many interesting sites, including the following:

Web Design Falkirk - Search Engine Optimisation Scotland

Search Engine Friendly, Optimised Website Design in Falkirk, Scotland, UK.
They run a very informative site, which contains a fair bit of information about the services they offer, what SEO is, and how it is applied to the work they do.

Although Web Design Falkirk is a modest company operating out of Scotland, they create and optimise websites to a high professional standard for anywhere in the UK.

What makes a good search engine.

It seems like a really simple question, but it can generate a whole load of different answers. Some people say a Complex algorithms, some people say lack of spam, some people say relevancy.

Personally, I think it varies, it totally depends on what you are looking for for example if you want to buy something you may think pay for click adverts are useful, you know if you click on a on a pay for click that it's going to be someone selling something and if they are willing to spend money they are more than probable ligitamate. I think usefablility is very important I think the reason that google became tyhe main search is because it didn't try to do too much, yahoo results aren't that much worse bit more spammy but generally talking they are quite good. The other thing that I think is very very important is size of index, this doens't matter if you are looking for something general but as soon as you start looking for something that more unique, like the fix for a computer problem or something, you need to be able to find the obsure forum posts that have fallen into the archieves. Much as I hat to say it I do think google is still the best search engine on all the front, next I would say that ask is doing a good job in catching up.

Off the topic, but we are started to work on a couple of completely new web page, I've been given Public relations london and laser hair removal before and after. (0.08 seconds) vehicletrader.net is pretty much doing the same thing i'd like to do at the moment. As well as having affiliate advertising. What I was hoping was that you'd be able to advise me on a good domain name / site name, which will rank well in google for similar search terms as sell my car free etc."

Here is my reply:

"As far as domain name goes there is only really one considerations when it comes to search engines.

If you can include some of the word of the search terms you want to rank with in the domain name it is easier to get links with the specific links to them. So for example if you brought the domain name www.sellmycar.com then it would be really easy to get people to link to you with the text 'Sell my car' hence making it very easy to rank in the search engines on that term.

However that is a terrible name for branding or trust, McDonald's would never have got so big if they were called Eatcrappyburgers.

The mid ground is something like selectoverseas or firstHIPS, pick a word very relevant to your area and then mix it together with something else to make it brandable. That way you get semi targetted links whilst not looking like a spam site. "

Racism in conversion rates

Since we have a website that is doing very well in the search engines, but not so well at converting those people into customer, we started doing some version testing. In case you haven’t come across version testing before it is where you show the website visitors different version of a webpage and then see which one is statically more likely to make the person buy your product / contact you.
One of the result that most shocked me was when we changed the picture of the guy on the front page from a good looking black guy to a good looking white guy, our conversion rate jumped by 127%. Let me rephrase that, by having a picture of a white guy on our homepage the visitors were 127% more likely to contact us! That’s more than twice as likely.

This amazed us! We never expect a rise of this magnitude. It might be something to do with our demographic, 90% of the people that used the service are middle class, fairly wealthy and white.
Most people when asked would completely deny being racist at all, but this is completely on a subconscious level. Be it right or wrong the fact remains the same, we are removing the good looking black guy from our homepage, we cannot afford to keep him there.

How to Ensure Your Webpages are Indexed by Google

Many webmasters overlook the fact that Google doesn't index websites, it indexes web pages. That means that it is entirely possible that some pages of your website are doing well in Google while the search engine is completely unaware of other pages. No matter how good the content on those pages, no reader will ever find it on a search engine.

Why? Search spiders travel through web pages one link at a time. It's a little bit like Tarzan swinging through the jungle - the spiders are Tarzan, the trees are each website page, and the links are the vines that Tarzan uses to travel. If a page doesn't have a vine that Tarzan can reach, he'll never visit that tree.

So how can you ensure that your trees have plenty of vines - or that your pages are easy for search engine spiders to find?

1. Make sure that your coding is clean and compliant. Bad coding can tangle the vines, keeping the spiders away from your pages.
2. Use a site map to make sure all of the your pages are simple for the spiders to find.
3. Create good site navigation that will enable spiders and visitors alike to easily find what they need.
4. Entice other trees, err, sites to link to your pages.
5. Get other sites to deep link directly to your inner pages where appropriate, not just to your start page.
This article was submitted by Alex Little. However this time it back fired, the webmaster sent me back a message telling me that I have a spammy network of blog and should remove his link ASAP.

I was quite proud of my reply, plus It think it says quite a bit about the world of SEO at the moment. So I decided to post it.

-- message below --

You are right I do use blogs as a means of site promotion, I’m trying my best not to be spammy at all. We don't scrape or steal any content (we can't guarantee this of site we swap links with), all of the article that we write on our blogs are unique and we are trying to pick generic topics and be useful to readers. We also in the process of giving all our sites Unique selling points, For some we are developing free code to give away some we have started on video tutorials. It is really hard to find non spammy ways to promote sites these days, we do all the directory submission and press release any thing news worthy, but a lot of these seems really spammy too.

This to me seems the least (well at least when it is finished) on topic links within useful content, which is not stolen or forced on anyone (i.e. comment spam onother people site or email spam)

Some of the links a slightly oddly placed by not more that thesponsored links you get all over commercial sites everywhere. This is the way I see it as long as we write good content (presently alot is questionable) that answers what question it raises or providedthe solutions or provides what it says it does.

The people who find my sites through the search engines get what they asked for, so they are fine. None of the website I am promoting is any less deserving, than any of their competitor who spend fortune on spammy brought links for goodranking in the search engines, so we are not hurting anyone searching for my clients sites The only reason all the in necessary is because it is nearly impossible to get generic real link these days, because no one will give them out.

Wikipedia has started putting no follow on all it links, which is a sad day when the combined editing power of the whole world can't be trusted to remove spam. Without methods like this it just comes down to who has the deepest pockets for link buying.

This was not meant as spam the message to you was very generic I did believe that site belonged in that list, sorry to waste you time.

Are You Wrecking Your Own Web Project?

I always find myself caught in the (ba??s) guts whenever Mike posts a “Things You May Have Missed–” series on his blog. One of my favorites is the one on 4-22-2007 simply because it points me to the “How to Tell When You are Simply a Pair of Hands on a Project” article which I like and actually made me remember how contracting work can get really pissy at times simply because clients don’t have enough knowledge of their own project. On these instances, clients either tend to demand too much involvement, thinking they can learn on the process or just shrug it off thinking that the developer can handle everything on his own. Either way, the work suffers and the client may end up with a hanging project and an unpaid developer on his name.

Lack of technical knowledge should not be a problem when managing web development projects. Sometimes, just knowing what you want and be being able to clearly present your idea is enough. Take the case of building architects, they may not be able to operate a backhoe but they certainly have a general idea on how each building components should be built. It’s typically the same with web development. First and foremost, be sure that you have a general picture of what your project should turn out. Don’t be bothered with too much technicalities, remember you’re not the one driving the nail on this one. Second, from a general perspective determine which major components your project is composed of. Do you want people to buy products from your site? Do you want to post articles about your products? Solicit feedbacks and suggestions? All of these are non-technical terms that can be explained to the developers easily. “E-commerce”, “payment gateway”, SMTP and POP3 are for geeks, and you are not, the developer is so let him be geeky as much as he wants as long as your not pretending to be one and you two won’t have a problem communicating. Third and lastly, know when you’re being too cool while your developer is burning his face from CRT radiation all day and night. Web developers, mostly freelance workers, often work alone translating your ideas into codes. Never ever make them feel being left alone with your project just because you paid them to do it for you. Take time to monitor the work’s progress without being a pest. This can be more effectively done by arranging regular status report early before development. Learn simple ways to appreciate accomplishments and constructive criticism in case he’s not clear about certain things you want. In that way the work flows seamlessly and saves you both a a few spare aspirin in time for your site’s launching date celebration night.
'Till next time.

Google Enables Search Across Visited Websites

Google has expanded its search history feature to allow users to search across websites they’ve visited in the past, making it easier to find information that you read before or to rediscover great sites that you stumbled upon but didn’t bookmark.

Of course, to be able to search visited websites, Google also needs to track your stops online, which raises privacy concerns. A recent situation where AOL released some private and potentially embarrassing search records, only to retract the decision and remove them hours later due to the public outcry, underscores how sensitive this information can be.

Google, however, does not collect information on visited websites automatically. In order to participate in this program, you need to sign up for a Google account, download the Google Toolbar, have PageRank in the toolbar activated, and enroll in the Web History program.

Google’s privacy policy also prohibits disclosure of your Web History to other people or companies, and the data is stored in an encrypted format on Google servers, to prevent hackers from gaining access. Furthermore, users can remove items from their Web History without difficulty.

Overall, it seems like Google has provided a very useful service, with a keen eye to protecting user privacy.

This post was written by Charlie Winfer. Google’s shares auctioned at $4.36 in regular trading, and closed at $471.65, up again with more than 2 percent for the current year. After the announcement earnings, Google’s stock rose to more than $486 in extended trading. The event was so unexpected that it even topped the already generous predictions of business analysts before. Yahoo!, however, dropped a dismaying 11% in quarterly profit. They even forecasts further fall in profit on the second-quarter revenue, for payments to affiliates of $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion, almost exactly within analysts' forecasts ranging from $1.22 billion to $1.35 billion.
Eric E. At least this is the public’s common impression of those little links that fund our site and ensure to keep it up and running for the next few months or so. On one interesting post entitled, “How to Be Crafty and Mask Affiliate Links”, Mike Gray shares some interesting techniques on how to keep your affiliate links “hidden” from keen eyes of affiliate-allergic visitors without being too tricky in the process (like hiding links deceivingly). The article discusses the technique in general sense, but today, we will be digging deeper into the subject of effectively hiding you affiliate links and see how this is really done.
Let’s say you have a site named sitename.com and you have an affiliate link linked to http://www.google.com and you want it to open in a new window so visitors won’t navigate away from your site. Your typical HTML code might look like the one below:

Google.com

Obviously, our affiliate link is out in the open and visitors, as if programmed not to do so, will most likely rather type the link directly into their address bar rather than clicking your link. In order to mask our affiliate link, we can replace the HTML code above with our masked link code like the one below:

Looking for something?

That’s easy! We now we have masked our link to look and sound like something else other than Google. So are we ready now? Not yet but we’re almost there. Our next step is to create the page that will actually make our ingenious link work. Using notepad or any other text editor you have, type the following PHP codes:

"; ?>

Now were done. Save your work and try out your new and improved affiliate link. Your visitors will no longer easily notice where your links are pointing to so you keep both your visitors and your beloved affiliate link.

Google Webmasters Console: URL Removal Tool

I’ve just learned from Matt Cutts that Google has already ported a URL Removal Tool into the Webmasters Console. Although his post is really just a short informal announcement, coming from him, I know there’s really something behind it and so I checked my Webmasters Console immediately and checked out how this new tool performs with my site’s deleted contents.

Clicking the “URL Removals” link from the Webmasters Console brings up a list of your current URL removals request. Yahoo has also started a pay per click campaign for their new Search Engine. It is about time that both of these Search Engines launched mobile solutions though since the mobile age is most definitely here. Some are actually surprised that Yahoo has not done this before now as they have been the leader in online media and mobile services for quite some time now. However, both of these new search solutions are quite powerful. So, anyone who uses these solutions will feel right at home, as though they were online via their computers instead of their mobile phones. Only time will tell if these solutions will truly deliver everything that they have promised though. So far, only comments about Google's solution are available and most users say that it is great and has the added bonus of not showing any of the annoying features that are on Google itself, such as the ads. Instead Google will take you back to the good old days of pure, natural Search Engine results.

This post was submitted by Joeanne Dye, she's also a author on Pet Haven . The answer is that yes, it can sometimes make a difference whether you use the singular or the plural form of the word. This is because it depends upon how people are searching for the word and whether or not the Search Engines actually see any difference in the forms of the word. In other words, Search Engines sometimes treat singular and singular forms of the word as the same word. Of course, there are also sometimes when they do not do so. Thus, it is really hard to say how this will work. For this reason, some people say that you should actually try to apply more focus upon the plural form of the word because the singular form of the word is actually contained within the plural form of the word, most of the time.

This entry has been submitted by Alex Calver. This is especially true of people who own web sites that have lots of pages on them. Of course, there are also some people who are “in the know.€ These people would tell you that you can put in as many links as you want as long as you do not go over the 10MB file size. However, there really is no need to for your site map to contain login pages, admin pages, etc. Instead, you are better off including only those pages that you really want visitors to find. In other words, there really is no reason why you should include all of your pages. As always, there are others who would like to argue that you should limit your site map to 50,000 pages. Then, if you have more web pages then that you should create an XML index of site maps. Regardless as to what side of the proverbial fence you stand on with this issue, you should know that a site map really does make a lot of difference when it comes to your ratings.

This entry was written by Amelia Campos-Rios, she is a regular contibutor to ModernCleo .
Amelia is fast becoming an authority on H.I.P..

Google Bowling: How it Can Damage Your Rankings!

Google bowling <personname />Me</personname />Ans that competitors use spammy SEO techniques to get your web site out of the search results. Basically I want to write a guide to being a competent SEO in 400 words or less. I want to get my first shit hot SEO document printed and I think the market that I would like to go for are people who want to do SEO for a small website. I think I never read article that the complete layman can actually use. 400 word I think is steep, since not only will this require enough description so that people can continue, but it will need to provide you with enough information that the people can follow the step by step instructions. It's going to be a challenge because I'm not really know for being brief, since for example this post up to this point is 134 words. Which is coming up for being half the document already.
Soooo Watch this space. I'll post up a link once it is done.

At last progress on the site.
Josie made the suggestion that I change the home information packs pages

My first go at the Wikki

Well I had heard that the Wikkipedia was a brilllaint way to build links to your site. But I had always been a little scared of it. Much like DMOZ, I had alway had this strange paranoia about getting something wrong and ruining my chances of ever getting in (This is a fear I get very often exspecaily with me being so dylsexic). But today I took the plunge and here it is: BACD.

It was so easy. After I worked my way though the rules and regulations, I realised that it is not that hard. Basically anything you do wrong someone else is going to change anyway. The only thing difficult really with this is coming up with something that is worthy of going in. Most the company I work with would get kicked out of the Wikki If I just put a page in about them. This I think I will need ot work on.

Things seem good on the work front.
This is what I'm going to change next the HIP page

ASK throwing money away of TV ads

Well it seems Ask haven't been studying their history books, Ask are following in MSN disartous footstep , by trying to use television Ads to get people to use their search engine. Given that Miscrosoft had millions and millions that it can sneeze away without even feeling it, the new manger of ask has got to be more careful. The advert are all in the really cheap hours of the early morning, next to the ringtone adverts.

"Stealing market-share from Google, which doesn't advertise in any broadcast media, has proven hard. Microsoft tried a TV, radio, print and online blitz to bring searchers to MSN's search engine in January 2005, yet just ended up losing market-share."

Basicaaly ask have a problem they are entering a market whihc is very well established and they have no real unique selling point, as much as I would love the playing field to be slightly leveled, I don't think Ask is the one to do it.

Finally we have had progress with the website.
Jodie has finally re-designed the sell my home online pages

Google to take over TV

In this article here: Fox talk about how google don't say that they don't have to worry about them taking over.

I like that Fox don't have to worry about google producing television programmes but google will more than probable be providing the format and the collecting the advertising revenue. So Fox don't have to worry at all, just accept that they are going to loss a whole load of incoming.

Personally I think this is a great call, with the increasingly dumbing down of television and the massively increasing advert time (a show that is 1 hour on sky one is 45 minutes on BBC1) I think this is going to be the way forward, I think all we need is a couple of people to put together something that could be treated as channels, so that people can then subscribe to them, then we would pretty much have complete control. The only thing that is missing is production values. Most of the films on YourTube tend to be really low quality. I think there is a opening for people who help people makes their own telly programme.

At last progress on the site.
Check out the new design on the glycolic peel uk page

Googlebombing war!

Most people are aware that their are a bunch of prankests out their using googlebombing technics to alter the search results for miserable failure on Google so that the first result is a link to Persiedent Bush's online biography.

But just today I noticed that that their is a backlash. In third position just under Jimmy Carter, the democrates are fighting back. Micheal Moore has got into 3rd position.

This is a real sign of popularity amognst webusers, who do more people hate the most. They are doing their best to find paid for links and nullify their beneficial effect on ranking. So if this is true what can webmaster selling links do?

So there are some simple things that could lower the chances the link would fire off this filter, to start with remove any 'sponsored links' or 'advertisements' captions that are commonly above them. Also placing them in blocks of text or within the navigation, or even not together in a group of outgoing links.

It's incredible complicated to figure out what kind of return a link is providing, When I buy links to help improve my ranking in the search engines I don't opt for any that have ongoing payment. Be aware you may have to wait upto 6 months before you can see what the effect is. There are a lot of other changes to be wary of, like links growing stale over time. Anyway I'm scared, don't know about you.

----off topic---
To end with some great stuff I have been procrastinate with! So in theory you come up with a great article and bundle it all up with a bunch of references to your website and then nice friendly webmasters put it on thier website for all their visitors to see. So you get one-way inbound links on a relevant page, but you get to plug your site for free on someone else site.

Which all sounds great what with everyone saying that standard rec linking no longer works.

I'm am still to be convinced, this is the new holy grail of internet marketing. Marketing via Articles in my opinion is far from easy.

Take for example getting inbound links to improve your ranking in the search engines. The problem is the duplicate filter, because the article remains the same it will alway be limited by the duplication filter, so even if your article gets published on 100 websites, the search engines are only going to give you credit for one and then they might have policy against putting live links in the articles they include.

So you could up writing ten articles and only ever get back one link.

But the article themselves may bring traffic to your site, I hear you say! Well sometimes. To persuade site to publish your articles they have to be done in a certain way. The main reason people don't get many article published is because they are adverts not articles, they write the articles just to plug their product. People pay them to put these kind of article on their sites, chances are they won't do it for free. For the site to want to publish your article it has to be entertaining or informative. But if you write a informative/entertaining piece that is not made to advertise, the reader usually won't have any good incentive to go to your site.

Usually webmasters publish article to make their site better rather than to send people away.

In 6 months time, most people will be bored of article submission after seeing very little results.
I know you've all been waiting for the new sites I found. Now this debate went on for quite a while just repeating ourselfs mainly because chrishirst refused to back up his point with any real evidence. His total belief that:

PageRank doesn't;
leak, drain, bleed , dissipate, evaporate, leech or is otherwise reduced by out going links.

If you read the thread here, you can see what I'm talking about. The discussion was crazy, even though I (nixies@yahoo.co) had back up every point with evidence he still couldn't bring himself to admit the possiblity their may be the smallest outside chance that he could possible, maybe, be wrong.

The discussion was stuck on this point; He could not make sense of how if the equation was based on incoming links how the outgoing links could reduce the amount of Page Rank you have.

We stood our ground for quite a while, I tried to explain that the formula was done from scratch so all that it needed was for the calculated value to be less than it was before to have effectively been ‘drained’ but to no avail.

There are a few things that need to be understood when figuring out how google calulates page rank:

The equation is repeated multiple times.

Each time the calculation is done it is done from scratch; no prior Page rank is worked in the equation.

The calculation is done for each individual page not site.

The green bar shown on the toolbar is just a label given to a page depending on the group that the actual page rank falls into.

This is how I like to think of the calulation. Bear in mind this is a simplification (and if you want to go into specific details it is wrong).

At the begining of the equation each index page is given a value of 1; part of this value is given as a vote which is divided between all of the pages that it links to. So a new value is calulated. Now this is the part that most people understand, pagerank is made up of vote from your inbound links.

This is where it gets tricky, the calculation is then repeated starting with the new values, so the pervious pagerank that has been gain on pervious calulation can be passed on. The Calulation is repeated lots of times. So since you divide your vote between the pages that you link to, if you give all your vote to pages that link back to you on the next vote (calulation) you are going to end up with more page rank than if you would have linked to a lot of pages that do not link back to you.

So that is the main point if you link out of your own website, to a site that does not link back. The page rank is not coming back to your site so you are going to drain/lose/leak PR.

Does page rank have any effect on how well your site is ranked? That is a much more complicated question.

Here is some other groovy stuff I found. We have all be planning to go on mass to a speed dating thing and we stubbled across this what do you think? Here is a interesting one. I've started to write about something called Home information packs! HIPS

There now. That’s all my news for the day.

Google's future Algo changes

What are going to be google's next algo change?. Now this quote was made by Jayde Online CEO, Mel Strocen.

"Google's 'democratic' vision of the Web will never be achieved by manipulating algorithm criteria based on content. It will only be achieved by factoring in what is important to people, and people will always remain the best judge of what that is. The true challenge for search engines in the future is how to incorporate web searcher input and preferences into their ranking algorithms."

This seems to make sense with what google releasing google anayltics for free. it is a amazing tool, but it gives google pretty much all your traffic information.

Now if they can get enought of this type of information, it could massively alter the way they calulate the ranking.

These are some things that I think they will soon be capable to do quite effieciently.

1. Identify irreleval links: basically if a link is never clicked on, you can persume it is just their for the search engines benefit.

2. Identify spam pages: If someone goes to a page and then immediately click the back button. Then you can persume that is a vote agaisnt that page.

However this is not without it's problems, mainly google will have huge black spots in it's research, google analytics and toolbar will not cover everything.
